Match Reports - 18th. March. 2008 at Green Dragon

Report on Dart tournament at Green Dragon: Tuesday March 18, 2008. There was a record turnout for a Shanghai Dart League tournament on Tuesday at the Green Dragon with over 40 doubles teams competing for the top prize. Not surprising that so many people turned out with free drinks until 9 and plenty of finger food laid out for all the players. Many thanks to the new venue “Season’s” for the loan of two extra dart boards, without which we would have still been playing when the sun came up Wednesday morning. (As it was I didn’t get to have my after dart snack until nearly 3 AM.) There were a lot of good matches over the course of the night. Unfortunately, those who are unable to resist drinking as much as possible when the drinks are free and free flowing didn’t make it much past the first 1 or 2 rounds. Being one of those I did not watch as many matches as I should have so do not have first hand reports – but I am told there were indeed lots of close and fun matches played. The abreviated format of best of 3 – 301 games and single elimination was necessary due to the large turnout and the seeding process did not go quiet as well as we hoped. In the future we plan to have tournaments and sign up scheduled in a way to improve the system. Still three or four women made it into the final 8 including Yaya who managed to finish in first with her partner Yao. Congratulations to all those who finished “In the money” and thanks to Frankie and the Green Dragon for putting on a great night of darts for all the players and the large prize money pot of 2,000 Yuan allowing the prizes to be spread out over nearly 20% of the participants.
