June 24 had POP's at home against another Yeeha Bar team - the Perfect A team. (For those of you not familiar with American slang - if someone calls you a "perect A" in the USA it is NOT a compliment!)
With Daryll and Jochen both back in town for a couple weeks Wes was feeling like POP's had a chance. Also, Wes recently and finally put up a dart board at home and has been practicing with his girls and with all those practice darts everyone was feeling up to a tough match.
First team game started with Wes opening with a 40 but quickly followed by Rick opening with an even higher score and that pretty much set the tone for the night.
Team 1001 was close but aside from Angela and Vivian no one on POP's was throwing any high numbers and at the end Perfect took the lead and closed before POP's could catch up.
First round of singles saw Wes and Tracy both winning and after just the first 3 singles making the score even at 2:2. Unfortunately for POP's we didn't see another singles win until the second round when Daryll and Vivian playing 2 and 4 took their games.
Score after both singles rounds: 9:4 in favor of Perfect A.
Now shooting to try a stragegy that would get POP's a tie, Wes set Angela and Iris as team 1, Wes and Vivian as 2 and Tracy and Daryll as 3.
Strategy didn't come into play this match as Rick, Scofield and Jacky all started to toss 100's almost at will. Match one with Rick/York was over almost before it started and match 2 was not far behind. POP's only bright spot in doubles was Tracy/Daryll taking another quick game from David and Justin.
With the match decided after doubles, MM was once again a no pressure game but it just wasn't POP's night. Perfect A won MM handily and in short order!
Hat's off to Perfect A who came very close to being just that - Perfect! I haven't looked back at all the score sheets but they must have been at or close to a team high for total 100's for the night! Rick with 6- 100's and 1 - 140 combined with the rest of his team for a solid 12 -100's and 1-140!!! While POP's ran at a season low for high numbers with a grand total of 2 - 100's for the entire team and only 1 coming from Wes.
MVP's for the night: For Perfect A - hands down was Rick. For POP's - Well...to be honest no one really did much in the way of good darts Tuesday. Personally I blame this on the Shanghai weather which has been so rainy and cold that it has not allowed POP's girls to wear their distracting cloths, the US economy which is putting a strain on Wes's drinking budget, the Chinese ecomony and higher oil prices and finally because Iris's 27th birthday is coming up and all POP's girls were drinking soda so they could save their strenght for the party Saturday night!
Again, congratulations to Perfect A who took a well earned win on Tuesday and who were great sports throughout the match. (Which by the way was the shortest match of POP's season and done just before 10!!!!)
POP's has a bye on the 1st so I am taking bids on which team wants me to bring my girls to suppor them and act as their cheerleaders! Bids start at 100 Yuan PLUS free drinks for Wes.
