Match Reports - Week 20 - 29th. Jul. 2008

POP's met the mighty Mad Dog's on Tuesday at the Yeeha bar.

Every week POP's girls are getting better and better while Wes seems to be falling down on the job. Perhaps it is the new color co-ordinated dress code that the girls have come up with. Last night it was black tops with white bottoms and though it didn't go unnoticed by the opposing team it didn't give us enough of an edge.

The first team game POP's started out with a solid lead and maintained that until POP's was shooting for the double while Mad Dogs still have nearly 200 points. Mad Dogs hung in there, caught up and finished first to take the 1001 game.

Singles were almost a repeat of last week with POP's girls throwing very well with Tracy and Joy both having at least 1 -100 in their game and quickly hitting double 20's to beat Bruno and JC. Wes pulled his game out with a 127 check out against Pat putting the score 3:4 in favor of Mad Dogs.

Second round of singles didn't go quite as well but Wes and Vivian both managed a win to make the score 5:8 in favor of Mad Dogs.

Mad Dogs really poured in on in the doubles matches. None of POP's 3 teams even got down to where they had a chance at a double. New players Bruno and Stephen (Where did Mad Dogs find these guys?????) both threw excellent darts to handily beat Wes and Joanna in the first match.

Score after doubles was 5:14 with the Mad Dogs already having wrapped up the win for the night.

Into MM Pat started off with only 1 - 20 after coming closest to the bull but Wes was unable to capitalize and managed only 1 -20 for his team. From there on out Mad Dogs took control and were working on doubles before POPs had even closed the 15's and 16's.

POP's had doubles closed and a chance to put a few points on the board, but no go there - while Mad Dogs started scoring on the 15's and 16's while going for the doubles.

With all closed but bulls eyes, new player Stephen threw a third dart bull to end the match.

17:5 for Mad Dogs!

Usually I like to say that the games and match were closer than the score makes them look but that just wasn't the case tonight. Mad Dogs controled the match and won handily!!!!!

MVP's for the night:

Has to go to Stephen for Mad Dogs. He tossed in 3 - 100's and 1 -140 along with a lot of other 80+ scores and finished the MM.

For POP's: Tracy and Joy were both at top form Tuesday. Tracy with 2 - 100's and Joy with 1 and also with many high scoring throws of 60+ points.

Wes did have a 127 check out with a triple 20, single 17 and double bull but that was really one of two decent throws he had all night! (Just had to toss that into the report as it is my first over 80 checkout for the season.)

As always the Mad Dogs were good sports and fun to play against. For those of you who haven't played them yet - Beware of Stephen!!!
