Match Reports - Week 3 - 1st. April. 2008

Report week 3: POP's won 22 to 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing victory against a tough team - POP's girls throwing in 100's and 140's like they were playing in the finals of the WDF world championship. EVERY player on POP's team had at least 1 - 180 - with some of the players running out of room on the score sheet to fit in all the tons and 140's and Angela with the first ever Shanghai dart league 9 dart check out. SIMPLY AMAZING NIGHT OF DARTS!!!!!!!! Before you start calling reporters to put these amazing results in all the international newspapers remember what day it was yesterday! Happy "Yu Ren Jie" to all the Chinese players and Happy April fools day for all you crazy ex-pats! All fun aside - it was, as usual a fun night of darts against a very tough team. Wes lost his first singles game of the season to Alex who threw a great game and sank his double 18 on his second dart after Wes missed his one and only chance at a double 16. I am proud of a quickly improving POP's team! 6 of our 7 players EACH contributed 1 win to the team's total with Angela, Tracy and Iris picking up singles wins with Jason and Vivian winning their doubles against Alex and Moo. (Giving Wes a bit of revenge for his loss to Alex in the singles!) Hard to pick an MVP from either team. All POP's players (With the exception of me) picked up their games against tough opponents and took nearly every game down to the wire. For Malone's Blue they spread out 10 tons pretty much evenly amongst all their players with 6 of the 7 of them having at least one ton each. Final score 6:16 in favor of Malone's Blue but a closer match than the score indicates. Thanks to Elmer and his team for a good competitive night of darts. Wes Write-up of Week 3 Mix vs. Plan B April Fool's 2008 There were 2 show-off's and a fool on the night. The Mix were short players and were scrambling to get some players and they ended up getting "The King" on board for his first time playing darts in a couple of years. His brother was a top player back in the UK in the day and we were hoping some of that would have rubbed off. Witchdoctor broke off dinner plans with the wife to show up and Dirty cut out of class a little early to get there in time. I don't think we finally started until about 8:30. One of the "show-off's" on the night- Balance- started 1001 with a double and ended up with a 111. (not as good as Dirty's 120 on during week one) but still pretty good. Zhao Yun finished 1001 with 1 dart! Then Balance in his first singles game hit a 100 then a 180- Sam did not have a chance. What a show-off! Jim, "the other show-off" since he was the home captain was very polite when he played Power. Jim let Power win bull and then later with Power on a double and Jim, on 114- Jim goes up and hits two triple twenties to bust on a 114! Very polite and showing off that he could hit what he wanted when he wanted. Power ends up winning on the next dart. In doubles it is Cash and Power against Jim and Stephen and just to prove that he can hit anything he wants at anytime, Jim, on a double 8 throws the first two darts off the board (cash and power were on double at this time) and with the third dart, right in the middle of the double 8 for the big victory! And then, to show off even more at the end of the night after darts, when the Witchdoctor and Power were leaving, he runs up with the scoresheet as we had forgotten to sign it and do tons etc. and we did that and THEN some hot bird shows up and starts trying to pick-up on him while we are doing the scoresheet! What a show-off! The Fool of the night was Power- Power made it home ok but the next morning the wife was asking "Why does your jacket smell like perfume?" I had know idea (maybe some of witchdoctor's magic potion or dirty's dirtiness had something to do with it?) Anyway, walking down the street trying to get a taxi later on Wednesday I look down as I was wearing my jacket and realize I had taken the wrong black leather Jacket. What a fool! Called Jim and he promptly sent as sms to his team asking if anyone lost a jacket etc. Anyway, make it down to Windows Scoreboard at about 4p.m. and there was my blue folder, jacket and another article of clothing I had left there. (I had forgotten about my other article of clothing.) I replaced the black leather jacket I had accidently thought was mine. It was a really fun night of darts. It had been a long time since I had been at Windows Scoreboard and the dart set-up was great! Beer was 10RMB(and they had a good xin jiang black beer for 10) Music was great(a little loud at the end of the night for an old-timer like me) Met some new darters on their team and Sam and Stephen are pretty decent darters (Sam was going for the Shanghai Golf (darts) record when I left after the first nine.) and Don is a ringer down at the number 6 spot. Dirty and the Witchdoctor won an important doubles as in Mickey Mouse Plan B just scored 18 after 18 and killed The Mix. Great game and quite close and exciting!
