Match Reports - Week 6 - 22nd. April. 2008

Report week 6: Week 6 found POP's traveling to Oscar's to face DWI. Opening strong POP's took a big lead in the first team game but failing to hit doubles, allowed DWI to catch up and for a still sober Mark to toss in a one dart double - giving DWI the first "W" of the night. The first round of singles did not go well for POP's. Brian took the first game from Wes - who was never in the match - with some excellent darts and a quick double. (Though Wes did beat Brian 4 of 5 in some after hours darts - just to keep him from getting too cocky!) The next three games were much closer with Tracy, Vivian and Phoebe all getting to doubles but failing to take the win. Mark (Still sober -ish) was not distracted by Vivian's charms nor her 100 managed to close out first. Angela and Jochen - POP's newest couple - both managed to win their games. 5:2 in favor of DWI after round one of singles. Second round of singles Wes once again failed to win though it was a closer game. After Wes missed double 16 with all three of his darts Andrew calmly and quickly tossed in his double 18 to take the "W". Tracy facing Mark took a win for POP's as did Angela against Zack. Those being POP's only victories in the second round put the score at: 9:4 in favor of DWI. Needing to win at least 2 doubles and the MM to squeak out a tie Wes matched up his players strategically. Unfortunately Brian did better and POP's only managed to take one of the 3 doubles games (Wes, with Tracy did managed to save a bit of face for Wes by beating the team of Mark and Orianna.) POP's dropped the other two doubles games and the MM leaving the final score at 16:6 for DWI. With close scores in both the 1001 and MM team games and some very close singles though the match was a bit closer than the score might indicate. MVP's of the night: DWI has to go to Mark. He had a couple tons, finished off the 1001 game and won his first singles game and threw some great darts in the MM. POP's MVP for sure goes to Angela this week who won both her singles matches and played her best darts so far this season. As always when we play a team playing out of Oscar's it was a fun night of darts. I can't spell Jeigermeister but thanks for the shot anyway!!! Wes
