Match Reports - Week 8 - 6th. May. 2008

Report week 8 POP's vs BeBop:: POP's started out a bit shakey last night with some internal conflicts but then got down to it when it was time to start the match. Wes opened the 1001 team game with a 70 and with Iris's 138 and some good darts from everyone on the team took a 200+ point lead to get down to double 20 very quickly. Then double 10, then 5 the 2 then 1 then.... Oops point lead gone and game lost! Singles matches started out very well for POP's with Jason and Wes taking the first two games but unfortunely those were the last wins in the first round. After round one singles: 5:2 for BeBop Second set of singles POP's faired a bit better with Tracy and Vivian taking wins as did Wes for a 3/3 split. After all singles: 8:5 for BeBop Star of the singles games had to be LeLe from BeBop, winning his first against Iris and then with his 180 against poor Anglea who just couldn't catch up after that excellent throw. Doubles: POP's came alive with wins for Wes/Angela and Jason/Iris. Tracy/Vivian threw a good game but couldn't hit that double to sweep the doubles round. After doubles: 10:9 for BeBop With the match coming down to MM - Wes came closest to the bull and started by closing 20's and hitting one triple. Bebop answered by closing 20's and from there on it was a tight match. BeBop went ahead in points and POP's came close several times by closing triples and bulls first but just couldn't follow up with enough points to get the win. Final score: 13:9 with BeBop taking the win! MVP's of the night: Have to say Vivian for POP's because it was her birthday and she was throwing great darts. Everyone on POP's team added one "w" to our side but Vivian was the one whose darts kept us in the MM and 1001 games. For BeBop: LeLe with his 2 singles wins and 180!! This was my first time at the Season Bar and I have to say I liked it very much. The dart boards are set up with plenty of room to not only have a good clear throw but also with a lot of space for the teams to have a close and clear view of the games being played. BeBop is a new team to the league this year and they had just the right combination of seriousness about wanting to win with an obvious enjoyment in playing and seeing good darts thrown - no matter which team threw them - that makes a team one you look forward to playing again. After the gratis Tequila shots POPs' entire team stayed for some more darts. Icy wandered in with his team and we played a friendly MM game. Losing team must do 5 push-ups - all players! Wes started by closing 20 and scoring 40, Jason followed with 60 points and then TRACY with her best throw of the season added 160!!!!! Icy's team struggled to add points and cut the lead down to under 100 points after that but POP's prevailed (With a bit of help from Lambo) and got to watch them all do push-ups. A really fun night against a great team and in a bar I intend to visit more! Wes
